Undercover
Undercover is a 12-minute variety game show created by The Wise Monkeys.
It follows four detectives who must work together to pass three challenges in seven minutes and figure out who among them is the undercover spy. The spy must conceal their identity, but make sure the team fails the challenges. The team must beat the challenges to get as many chances as possible to uncover the spy’s identity!​
Creative Problem
North American game shows employ repetitive formats and themes such as trivia, puzzles, luck, and obstacle course-based games. Examples include Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Wipeout. There are very few game shows that step outside of these common themes and undertake original ideas.
Undercover strays away from the classic North American game show format and takes inspiration from Korean variety shows. This show takes an entertaining take to produce a game show with an overarching narrative told through fast-paced and high-energy games.
Technical Directing
I joined the team in a supporting role after the idea was pitched and I worked closely with the Producer and Director. I managed and assisted with the equipment and paperwork for camera, lighting, and audio.
Tasks and responsibilities include:

Organizing lighting, camera, and audio equipment to ensure correct set-up and positioning according to the floor plan and other paperwork

Operating both a DMX Lighting Board and Sony Power HAD FX Camera on production day

Executing set-up and tear-down procedures

Working and communicating with the executive team to execute our vision
Process & Development
The pre-production process of this project was completed over a few weeks where we developed a comprehensive production package. I contributed to the technical paperwork and additional items, including the technical requisition, audio plan, assets list, camera cards, storyboard, and breakdown sheet.
Application & Results
Undercover is available for viewing on most devices and is uploaded on YouTube. It can be accessed on mobile phones, tablets, computers, and televisions.
